Father’s Day Rib Cook in DC: Rain, Ribs, and Referrals
On Sunday, June 8th, the K-Town Pit Que crew loaded up the smokers and hit the road to Washington, D.C. for a special rib cook. This one was close to the heart—and not just because of the meat. This backyard BBQ session was a surprise early Father’s Day gift organized by two thoughtful moms as a thank-you to the dads in their lives.
While the moms wrangled the kids at the pool, the dads—let’s call them “D” and “H” to keep things mysterious—kicked back with a few adult beverages and got a crash course in BBQ the K-Town Pit Que way. From trimming to seasoning to smoking low and slow, they soaked up the knowledge and the smoke.
This cook was extra special for two reasons:
It was a Father's Day gift done right. Time to relax, learn, eat, and sip? That’s a win in our book.

Now, we’ll be honest—H made us a little nervous when we found out he was from Texas. The Lone Star State doesn’t play around when it comes to BBQ. But we leaned on our East Coast roots and brought our A-game, delivering ribs that held their own and left everyone asking for seconds.
Not only did we smoke some delicious ribs, but we also cooked up our famous Brussels sprouts and our no-boil mac and cheese—all right on the grill. It was a full spread of smoky, cheesy, crispy goodness, and everything turned out great!
To top it all off, the entire family got outfitted in K-Town Pit Que t-shirts, and the photos of the kids repping our brand? Absolutely priceless. Nothing beats great BBQ and great people rocking the K-Town spirit.
As we like to say: It ain’t BBQ unless there’s a little rain. And oh boy, we got a little… and then a lot… and then a little again. But the fire didn’t stop, the smokers stayed rolling, and the good vibes never left.
